Naturopathy

Naturopathy adopts a traditional holistic health approach (where physical wellness integrates body, mind and emotions) using natural methods and medicine utilising the body’s innate healing capabilities to support healing and maintain health.  This approach combines with the application of current scientific knowledge.  Education is an important part of the process, empowering you to support your body’s unique requirements.

I look for the root cause of your illness or symptoms and treat this.  During the consultation I gather personal and family health history, lifestyle, diet, environmental and social factors.  Pathology testing may also be utilised where required.  Treatments are individual and focus on providing gentle diet and lifestyle support, as well as a combination of flower essences, homeopathy, nutrient and/or herbal medicine remedies.  A referral to additional specialists can be provided where necessary.

Naturopathy is not a magic bullet or quick fix. Some results may be experienced within a few days of treatment, but more often the results are slower and longer lasting.  Naturopathy, while developed as primary health care, is a valuable tool alongside conventional medicine.

Nutrition

Nutrition is part of your every day food choices that directly impact your health, which can lead to the prevention, management, or onset of many chronic diseases. It is so rewarding for me and you to observe the daily powerful impact that adopting positive eating habits can have on health.

Many factors can impact our access to nutrients within food, including farming methods, soil depletion, food processing & storage, microwaving, along with regular alcohol and coffee consumption. Clients often present with digestive and nutrient assimilation symptoms, especially when stress, speed, and fatigue are in the mix.

The use of food as therapy is the foundation of naturopathic medicine. Dietary assessment is one of the cornerstones of all consultations, where we will discuss diet strategies that are doable to empower you. These will take your food preferences, time constraints and life stage into consideration, to achieve your health goals.

Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicine is made exclusively from the whole plant parts, and has been for thousands of years by many cultures to treat and prevent most diseases. Herbal medicine can include teas, tinctures, tablets and capsules. Medicinal herbs contain ingredients that, are powerful tools to support the body’s innate self-healing processes, reducing symptoms.

It is well established that many herbal medicines have therapeutic benefits. A selection of selected herbal extracts, dietary advice & lifestyle recommendations often prove effective in relieving ill health.

Herbal medicine individually prescribed by an experienced Naturopath/Herbalist (using whole parts of the plant) is very safe, gentle, and successful in treatments. The medicinal properties of herbal medicine is validated by many years of traditional usage, and more recent scientific studies that help us understanding how and why they are successful.

Lifestyle

A healthy lifestyle is an important cornerstone of a healthy life. A healthy lifestyle is different for everyone, but often involves social/emotional connection with friends and family, connection with nature and or a spiritual practice, and regular exercise. It can prevent chronic disease, and minimise symptoms, and forms part of a naturopathic treatment plan for stimulating self-esteem and self-image, important in the return to health. Optimal health involves maintaining a healthy lifestyle by doing:-

  • what is right for you and your body at your life stage;

  • what is achievable for you, your time, your budget and your location;

  • what gives you balance in your life;

  • what makes you feel good and therefore what you will be motivated to do

Flower Essence and Homeopathy

Flower essences are an energetic medicine that has gained world-wide recognition due to their contribution to emotional healing. These have been traditionally used to heal physical and mental imbalances throughout history. As scientific research advances, it is increasingly confirmed that emotional imbalance is part of the physical manifestations of disease.

All plants carry vibrational energy patterns, flowers are the pinnacle of this energy. Each flower essence carries a unique positive resonance, cancelling out the negative vibration of discorded thought patterns, stimulating self-healing. As a Naturopath, I love to incorporate flower essences in my treatment plan for clients who require a gentle approach to healing, or specific emotional support.

HOMEOPATHY is another energetic medicine, that can provide gentle healing. Homoeopathy assesses and treats your symptoms, rather than the disease. It uses plant, mineral or animal substances to stimulate the body’s ability to heal itself and strengthen overall constitution. I have training that allows me to prescribe homeopathy for acute cases.

Iridology

Iridology involves taking a close up photo of your eye, and examining the colour, structure of fibres, pigmentation and patterns of the iris. The colour and pattern of your eyes reflects your genetic inheritance from the past three generations. Iridology is founded upon over 300 years of observation and documentation of visible iris patterns (empirical evidence). No two irises identical, just like a fingerprint.

An iridology assessment does not diagnose a disease or problem, but rather is useful tool (along side case taking) to detect some genetic predispositions, potential for inherited strengths and vulnerabilities that may reflect in your physical and emotional wellbeing. The quality of our life choices and experiences (physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual) combined with age and environment will either positively or negatively influence our genotype (Miller, 2016).

An iridology assessment enables greater refinement in treatment direction, and provides you with the opportunity to prevent illness and maintain optimum wellness.
